In the past few months I have been exploring a new body of work inspired by distorted panoramic landscapes. Using collage and mixed media I have juxtaposed photography with line drawing and collaged images with mixed media onto canvas. Working on several pieces at the same time…some still works in progress:
‘Harbour’ 2007 mixed media.
I am delighted that Art Van Go have offered me their gallery space throughout April to exhibit a retrospective of my work. The collection entitled “The Simple Act of Walking”
The exhibition shows my mixed media work dating from my ‘Harbour’ painting 2007 which was awarded the Margaret Harvey Prize for Welwyn and Hatfield and continues through to my mono print work and mixed media paintings, made for Parndon Mill group exhibition ‘Encounters’ 2015.
The exhibition then continues to the very recent mixed media work based on observations whilst walking through the Cornish landscape. These pieces are abstracted land and seascapes which reference dual perspective panoramic images and sketches.

Caryl Beach uses mixed media, photography, and print making to respond to her experiences in the landscape. Her photography records and reflects her everyday journeys, noting the detail, often overlooked, in the hustle of our daily routine. These experiences present new encounters to note and capture. Her work represents an appreciation and acceptance of the transient nature of our world, with a beauty that lies in imperfection, impermanence and an appreciation of the simple integrity of objects and processes
